Consider a Residency at Fountain

A Different Kind of Preparation

Most pastoral training happens in a classroom, disconnected from the church a man will actually serve. We believe it's best for a man to clarify his calling and develop his gifts under the faithful leadership of elders — in the middle of real ministry, not apart from it. The Fountain Church Pastoral Residency exists to do exactly that.

What It Is

A 3-year, full-time residency (6 semesters and 3 summers). For the duration, the resident functions as a full-time pastoral staff member at Fountain Church. We cover the full cost of your MDiv at Covenant Baptist Theological Seminary, pay a salary/stipend, and provide housing.

What You'll Do

  • Walk alongside a personal mentor from our existing elder body
  • Preach in our corporate gatherings at least twice a year
  • Teach CORE classes assigned by the elders
  • Fully participate — not just observe — in elder, staff, deacon, and member meetings
  • Spend a semester working under the ministry leader in each of: Preaching, Worship, Youth, Children, CORE, and Community Ministry

Where It Leads

We can't create pastors — that's the Lord's work. But we can affirm and sharpen what He's already doing in a man. Our objective is to train qualified men and send them out as church planters and pastors of local congregations. In year two, if you're pursuing church planting, we begin identifying where a plant is most needed, present you to the congregation, and invite the church to start praying, building a team, and fundraising alongside you.

Who Should Apply

Men who sense God's call to pastoral ministry and want that call tested, sharpened, and confirmed by faithful elders — not just studied about in a classroom.
